How To Root HTC Nexus 9 And Unlock Its Bootloader

Find out how to root the HTC Nexus 9 and unlock its bootloader with the easiest method and step by step instructions. The new tablet from HTC  and Google the Nexus 9 is no doubt one of the best tablet out there. The device come with a 8.9-inch beautiful display with screen resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Nexus 9 is packed with a 2.3 GHz Dual-core Nividia Tegra K1 processor and chipset with Kepler DX1 GPU. Nexus 9 has 16/32 GB of internal storage with 2 GB of RAM, but it does not support any external SDcard. Before You Begin:

  • You need a Windows based PC or Laptop.
  • This method is working and tested on Nexus 9 only.
  • Download and Install Nexus USB Drivers.
  • Enable USB Debugging in your Nexus 9.Click Here if you don’t know how to enable.
  • Your device must be charged 50% minimum.
  • Make backup of device data for safety.

How To Unlock Bootloader:

  • First of all make sure that followed all the steps given above.
  • Make sure USB Debugging is enabled and USB drivers are installed properly in your device.
  • Now go to Settings > Developer Option and Enable OEM unlock option.

  • Download ADB & Fastboot file from Download section above and extract it in a folder.
  • Connect your device with USB Cable to PC and make sure your PC detects your device. If not make sure you have proper drivers installed.
  • If your device show any popup about USB Debugging, Accept it by pressing OK.
  • Now open the folder where adb & fastboot zip file is extracted, and then open the Win32 folder and press and hold the SHIFT button + Mouse right click and select Open command window here.
  • Type adb reboot bootloader command in CMD to boot your device in Bootloader mode. You can boot it by powering off your  device and then start it by holding Power Button and Volume Down Button same time.
  • Now select FASTBOOT option in Bootloader mode (Use Volume Button for up and down and Power button for selection).
  • Once your device in FASTBOOT Mode, Enter the following command in CMD and press enter: fastboot oem unlock
  • Confirm unlocking the bootloader by pressing Volume Up button when prompted.
  • Your device will automatically reboot after completing the process of unlocking.

How To Root Your Nexus 9:

  • Download the CF-Autoroot package from above and make sure that bootloader is unlocked.
  • Extract the CF-Autoroot files in ADB & Fastboot > Win32 folder

  • Now open the folder where adb & fastboot zip file is extracted, and then open the Win32 folder and press and hold the SHIFT button + Mouse right click and select Open command window here.
  • Now reboot your device in Bootloader mode, Type adb reboot bootloader command in CMD to boot your device in Bootloader mode. You can boot it by powering off your  device and then start it by holding Power Button and Volume Down Button same time.
  • Now boot your device from inject.img by typing fastboot boot inject.img in CMD.
  • Now flash the patched kernel in your device by typing fastboot flash boot patched.img in CMD (It’ll root your device).
  • Reboot your device using following command in CMD:
    fastboot reboot

That’s it!! Your Nexus 9 is rooted now and bootloader is unlocked..
